In celebration of International Women's Day, we’re honouring the many women paving the way in the sustainable fashion industry. Here at Loopster, we have selected 10 (or 11...) women that everybody should know about.

1. Stella McCartney

Renowned luxury designer leading sustainability in the fashion industry through design and supply chain innovation, she is an avid supporter of the circular economy and is renowned for never using animal products in any of her designs.

2. Sindiso Khumalo

Sustainable fashion designer focused on embracing social impact and empowerment. She is the 2020 winner of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards for the best Independent Designer.

3. Brittany Sierra

Founder of the Sustainable Fashion Forum, an online platform and global community for conscious individuals looking to make tangible impact in the fashion industry.

4. Aja Barber

Writer, stylist, and activist focusing on sustainability, ethics, and intersectional feminism – particularly in the fashion industry.

5. Livia Firth

Co-Founder of Eco-Age – leading consulting and creative agency specialising in integrated sustainability. She is also the founder of the world-renowned Green Carpet Challenge.

6. Lucy Siegle

Renowned journalist writing about environmental issues along with the Author of titles such as To Die For: is fashion wearing out the world?

7. Eshita Kabra

Founder of the UK’s leading fashion rental company – By Rotation. Fuelled by the throwaway culture of the fashion industry, she created a platform for stylish, eco-conscious people to shop quality fashion.

8. Ellen MacArthur

Founder of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, she is responsible for developing and promoting the idea of a circular economy throughout the fashion industry.

9. Carry Somers and Orsola de Castro

Founders of Fashion Revolution, a global movement striving for a fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over profit. Fashion Revolution week aims to remember the lives lost in the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh and demand that no one should die for fast fashion.

10. Emma Slade Edmondson

Sustainability consultant and creative director working with brands looking to focus on environmental good. She is the strategist behind sustainability campaigns such as ‘Love Not Landfill’ that celebrate conscious consumption.
